Wednesday April 13 were all things outer space as the 4-year-old children in Tallahatchie County participated in Blasting off Into Kindergarten, a transition to kindergarten day.
Transitioning to kindergarten is a very important milestone in a child’s learning development. At TELA, all pre-k children in the county had an opportunity to experience kindergarten for a day not only with daily routine but also participating in kindergarten skill activities during center time.
Children from the local childcare centers, ELOHIM CHILDCARE & LEARNING CENTER, PIPPIS LITTLE PEOPLE DAYCARE AND PRESCHOOL, SWEET PEAS & BUMBLEBEES traveled over to R.H. Bearden Elementary and Charleston elementary and experienced the life of a kindergartener.
The children received a Blasting off to Kindergarten summer backpack filled with goodies like reading and math manipulatives, books and arts and craft activities at their Pre-K promotional/class day programs. Parents also received tips on how to assist their children in making a successful transition.
The children all received the book Planet Kindergarten by Sue Ganz-Schmitt.
